Cary, N.C. – May 23, 2012 – Industry Standard Research (ISR) today announced the launch of a new market research report titled “Optimizing Investigator Recruitment in Clinical Trials” that provides recruitment professionals with a resource to optimize investigator recruitment and mitigate study delays.

ISR’s new report is based on a survey of 116 pharmaceutical decision-makers specifically responsible for investigator recruitment activities.  The report not only identifies drivers and barriers in the investigator recruitment process, but also evaluates how effective current strategies are in handling recruitment challenges and outlines leading-edge strategies the industry is using to address these challenges.

“Not surprisingly, the quality of an organization’s investigator database is crucial in determining the success of recruitment initiatives” explained Kevin Olson, CEO of Industry Standard Research. “Among CROs, sponsors report that Quintiles has the most productive investigator database, but that didn’t hold across all therapeutic areas we covered in the research.  The top performers varied when we drilled down to Oncology, CNS, and Cardiovascular databases”

The report assesses the industry’s use of – and satisfaction with – CROs for investigator recruitment activities. It includes performance data for 12 CROs: Covance, ICON, INC Research (including Kendle), Medpace, Optum Insight (formerly Ingenix), Parexel, PharmaNet/i3, PPD, PRA, Premier Research, Quintiles, and Theorem (formerly Omnicare).

This is ISR’s third recruitment-focused report released this year, having already published “Optimizing Feasibility in Clinical Trials” and “Optimizing Patient Recruitment in Clinical Trials” in February and May, respectively.

“There are few topics in clinical development that warrant more focus than recruitment, and ISR now has a substantial body of novel data on the topic. Our library includes coverage on pre-study feasibility, patient recruitment and enrollment, and now investigator and site selection.  This is a body of research that will genuinely enable smarter, more confident decision-making for drug development professionals,” says Olson.
