In a recent survey focused on clinical development outsourcing, respondents reported that their companies outsourced, on average, 61% of their clinical development activities. ISR also asked which functions made up the largest percentage of outsourced clinical study costs. On average, clinical monitoring carries the highest spend with 18% of outsourced study dollars—almost double the next highest functions. The top five functions with the greatest percentage of cost are shown in the second chart.
