Pfizer CentreSource Lands a Top 3 Position Across All 4 CMO Scorecards in ISR’s Latest Contract Manufacturer Quality Benchmarking Report

By December 20th, 2021No Comments

Cary, N.C. – June 9, 2015 – Industry Standard Research (ISR) today announced the availability of the “Contract Manufacturer Quality Benchmarking (2015)” report, providing a comprehensive assessment of CMO service quality. This report provides a Consumer Reports-style analysis of CMO quality with respondents giving rating assessments for 481 service encounters across 36 contract manufacturers.

Each of the 36 CMOs was evaluated across 28 service quality attributes, making this report the most comprehensive assessment of quality in the contract manufacturing space. These 28 attributes were categorized into four ‘scorecards’: Delivery Factors, Organization Factors, Capabilities, and Staff Characteristics. From these performance evaluations, the 116 respondents indicated the manufacturers’ strengths and weaknesses specific to their experience working with the manufacturer(s). For buyers of outsourced services, the report includes highly valuable information to help guide CMO selection, whether the project is for small molecule API, biologics, or fill-finish from early clinical stages to commercialization.

“There is a shortage of unbiased information available in the pharmaceutical contract services space,” explained Kate Hammeke, Director of Market Research at Industry Standard Research. “And, it’s hard to develop an outsourcing strategy based on the details relayed by the CMO’s marketing team. The Contract Manufacturer Quality Benchmarking report offers insight into the strengths and weaknesses of each CMO in the study, based on the experiences of actual customers who have worked with the business in the past 18 months. So this report has two key purposes: to help biopharmaceutical companies make more informed CMO selection decisions and to help CMOs optimize operational and marketing strategies by understanding feedback from actual customers.”

CMO performance attributes rated by respondents include Experience level of staff, Facilities with up-to-date manufacturing technologies, Scale-up and tech transfer abilities, Flexibility to adjust schedule for special requests, Quality performance metrics, Right-first-time measurements, and many others.

Data include an in-depth analysis of 19 of the 36 featured contract manufacturers, including AbbVie, Aesica, Almac, Aptuit, Baxter BioPharma Solutions, Boehringer Ingelheim, Catalent, Corden Pharma, DSM, GSK Contract Manufacturing, Haupt Pharma, Hospira One 2 One, Jubilant Life Sciences, Lonza, NextPharma, Patheon, Pfizer CentreSource, Piramal Pharma Solutions, and Vetter.

There are several standout CMOs this year, however, Pfizer CentreSource is the only one that scored among the leaders across each of the four scorecards (Delivery, Organizational, Capabilities and Staff characteristics).
