Cary, N.C. – March 12, 2014 – Industry Standard Research (ISR) today announced the availability of a new report titled “Contract Manufacturer Quality Benchmarking (2014),” providing a comprehensive assessment of CMO service quality.

“ISR has a long history of measuring service provider quality across the clinical development space and we are excited to broaden this offering to the pharmaceutical contract manufacturing industry,” explained Andrew Schafer, ISR’s President.”

In this report, ISR provides pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturing organizations a comprehensive analysis of current commercial outsourcing practices and trends and quantifies CMOs’ service quality across a series of 27 performance attributes. ISR gathered data on 321 service encounters from senior-level decision-makers at pharmaceutical companies. Respondents were asked to provide their input on industry trends and rate their service experiences with CMOs they have used within the past 18 months.  Respondents were given 27 performance attributes to rate, including the CMOs’ abilities to QA/ Audits, Meets regulatory requirements, Meets quality performance metrics, Cost effective, and many others.

Data includes analysis for 26 CMOs including: Aenova, Boehringer-Ingelheim GmbH, Cambridge Major, Catalent, Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals, Corden Pharma, DPT, DSM, Evonik, Famar, Fareva Holding, Haupt Pharma, Hospira, Jubilant Life Sciences, Lonza, LTS, NextPharma, NIPRO, Patheon, Pfizer Global Supply, Piramal Healthcare Ltd, Recipharm, Therapure Biopharma, UPM Pharmaceuticals, Vetter, and Xcelience.

Schafer continues, “As is the case within many of the industries and services ISR tracks, the service quality levels among and within pharmaceutical CMO providers varies quite a bit. CMOs profiled in this report can get a customer-based assessment of their quality. Pharma manufacturers can get peer-based assessment of the CMOs they may not have worked with and use this information to make better outsourcing decisions. There are several standout CMOs, however, only one, DSM, scored among the leaders across each of four attribute categories (Delivery, Organizational, Capabilities, and Staff characteristics).”
