ISR recently interviewed 15 individuals in Medical Affairs departments at Top 50 pharma companies to understand how they view their responsibilities, the challenges they face, and trends they are seeing in the Medical Affairs space. One discussion topic focused on characteristics and structures of Medical Affairs departments and their employees. Around three-quarters of interviewees indicated that the ability to communicate data and having product or therapeutic area knowledge were critical for success in Medical Affairs. Interviewees frequently shared that they consider an important part of their role to be communicating scientific knowledge, a perspective that aligns well with the attributes of successful employees.
