Overall, the lack of manufacturing capacity is the resounding motivator for outsourcing as opposed to the lack of experience. Only two drug substance/drug product categories captured more than half of respondents citing a lack of experience—Advanced Intermediates and Specialty dosage forms. Only one drug category—Mature products—garnered one-third of respondents (33%) having both adequate experience and adequate capacity.
