ISR’s research will power the CMO Leadership Awards

Cary, NC – January 1, 2016 –Life Science Leader (lifescienceleader.com) and Industry Standard Research (ISRreports.com) today announced a publisher-market research partnership, where Industry Standard Research (ISR) will serve as the data collection engine behind Life Science Leader’s annual CMO and CRO Leadership Awards as well as assist in the development of unique data-driven content for the Life Science Leader/Life Science Connect readership.

“The decision to shift from perception-based metrics to experiential data for our 2016 Leadership Awards is another way that Life Science Leader is showing its commitment to bringing the most valuable decision-making tools to our readers. ISR’s methodology is in-line with what our readers need—feedback from peers who have had recent involvement with the contract supplier,” said Jon Howland, SVP Publishing & Product Development, Life Science Leader.

Survey Methodology: ISR’s Contract Manufacturing Quality Benchmarking research is conducted annually via an online survey. For the 2016 CMO Awards data, 83 contract manufacturers were evaluated on 26 different performance metrics. Research participants were recruited from biopharmaceutical companies of all sizes and were screened for decision-making influence and authority when it comes to working with contract manufacturing suppliers. Respondents only evaluated companies with which they have worked on an outsourced project within the past 18 months. This level of qualification ensured that quality ratings came from actual involvement with a business and that companies identified as leaders were backed by experiential data.

“We are excited about our relationship with Life Science Leader and are honored to be the market research engine behind the CMO and CRO Leadership Awards,” stated Andrew Schafer, President of ISR.

There are five CMO Leadership Award core categories: Quality, Reliability, Capabilities, Expertise, and Compatibility. Multiple performance metrics feed into each of these award categories to give added confidence to both recognized winners as well as the drug sponsors who use this information to support their vetting processes. CMOs have an opportunity to be recognized for leadership in these categories by three groups of outsourcers—Big Pharma, Small Pharma or Overall (combined Big and Small Pharma).

Additionally, eight “individual attribute” categories based off a single performance metric are awarded. Contract manufacturers that have excelled in one (or several) of these performance areas will be recognized: Accessible senior management, Cultural Fit, State-of-the-Art, Innovation, On-Time, Right-First-Time, Strength of Science, and Reputation.
